Public forum, ‘Gudiya Nayay Manch’, strongly condemning the functioning of Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) has threatened to hold protest outside Himachal High Court on December 19, demanding justice.
The forum has charged that the role of Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI), ineffective in nabbing the real culprits behind the gangrape and murder of ‘Gudia’, a 16-year old girl from Kotkhai.
‘Gudia nayay manch’ co-convenor Vijayendra Mehra on Sunday alleging CBI for having failed miserably in solving the ‘Gudia’ case, said that the role of CBI is under scanner. “The investigations of CBI since the start had been akin to shooting arrow in the dark. It is impossible to investigate the case sitting in Shimla, miles away from the scene of crime. CBI has not taken the case seriously,” charged Mehra.
Many of the cases from Himachal handed over to CBI has remained unsolved by CBI, he charged.
He ridiculed the announcement of reward money of Rs 10 lakh to anyone from general public providing credible information to lead to the arrest of real culprits in the ‘Gudia’ case.
He alleged that the CBI had kept those suspected in the crime out of its investigations right from the onset and to divert the attention from the case, CBI turned it on the custodial death of Suraj, one of the 6 arrested accused by the Special Investigation Team of Shimla Police.
CBI was in the dock right from the start for not trying to reach out to the real culprits and now it has again become clear that the rich, influential and political nexus is continuously working to suppress the case, he charged.
A 16 year old girl, in Kotkhai area had gone missing after school hours on July 4 and two days later her body was found in the forest area.
It was suspected that she was gang raped and murdered. A Special Investigation Team of the state police was constituted which arrested 6 accused. One of the accused died in police custody.
Buckled under pressure with public unrest that rocked the capital city and parts of Shimla district in the areas close to the crime scene, the state government was forced to seek Himachal Pradesh High Court (HC) intervention to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI).
The CBI was handed over the case on July 19 and began its probe. So far the investigating agency has arrested 9 cops in connection with the custodial death of an accused in the ‘Gudia’ gangrape and murder case.
